BETHANY’S CHANCEL DRAPES

The Worship Committee’s Annual Report in January mentioned that we would be searching for an alternative to the chancel drapes for Bethany’s members to consider. These heavy drapes have proven more and more unwieldy over time, making them increasingly difficult to change, to the point of risking injury. When the large red drapes in the chancel are removed, they will not be replaced. This will make it easier for the congregation to visualize possible alternatives for use of the space. We invite interested people to volunteer to serve on a special committee to explore our options. This will involve collecting suggestions from the congregation, examining feasibility, and estimating costs. When these options have been fully explored, they will be compiled for presentation to Consistory and the congregation.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for an alternative use of the chancel area, please call or email the Worship Chair, or leave a note in the Worship Chair mail slot. If you would like to serve on the Special (short term) Committee, please do the same, specifying the best way to contact you and providing best days/times that you are available for meetings. We expect to have our first meeting on the second week of July, and hope to have information available to present by September.

Realizing that this can be an emotional issue for some, we hope that we can keep this process respectful and open-minded, in pursuit of a solution in keeping with our faith.
